Youth Retreat!

Filed under: Uncategorized — kgnorman @ 5:07 pm
Here are some pictures from the youth retreat last weekend.  There were about 90 teens from all over Morocco (ex-pats from around the world, including Argentina, Honduras, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Korea, and South Africa).  We had a blast together and learned a lot from I Kings looking at Elijah’s life.  I could have done without the 2 nights sleeping on a hard tile floor, but it was worth it :)

Language Class

Filed under: Uncategorized — kgnorman @ 7:24 pm
Here are a couple pictures of our language class.  Our classmate, E, is so much fun — we’ve had a couple dinners with her and her husband.  Our teacher, K, is fantastic.  Her English is perfect and she has a gift for teaching that truly shines when trying to explain Arabic to us “dumb Americans” (when it comes to language, that is).

Our Arabic classes are going strong — here’s Keely’s notebook from the day we were trying to get the alphabet down.

Attack! I mean, Retreat!

Filed under: Life in NA — kgnorman @ 2:07 pm

Last weekend was a holiday weekend, and some folks here decided it would be good to have some time away with each other.

We had a blast and really got to know people on a much deeper level.  The time was very refreshing and we came back pumped to be in North Africa! (not that we weren’t before).

Where is this place? Who they try to convert there or who have they converted there? Incredible! 20 or 30 Missionaries agents just going about their business preaching in the countryside.

Kevin and Keely [Stewart] Norman have set up their missionary house next to 4 or 5 schools is further proof that all the missionaries are preying on Moroccan Children. Wonder how many children they have approached in those schools to convert them to Chrisitanity.

This is the view from the nicer of our two balconies. There are 4 or 5 French schools in our neighborhood.

Here is the promised picture of the big cheeses of our school.  They’re a fun bunch, and they threw us a nice party on Saturday.

Guests, and an observation

Filed under: Travel — kgnorman @ 8:43 am
We’ve had the pleasure of having a few guests in our home for the past week+.  It’s been great to hang out and hear some of their stories from traveling the world.  Laura started in Dubai and has been on the road for about a month.  Ryan started in southeast Asia and is almost 2 months into his travels.  They’re fun.

My observation is best summed up in a picture:  the photo below is an accurate description of what Millennials do when they travel –  surf the web!!! We have to stay connected, you know? ;)

Scavenger Hunt!

Filed under: Language, Life in NA, Travel — kgnorman @ 11:17 pm

Just a quick post with some pictures — today was a great scavenger hunt taking us all over the city.  Much fun was had by all.

Here are some of the events:

Our bus tickets -- riding the bus was quite an experience!

Keely eating a "prickly pear" or cactus fruit. We both tried it -- not too bad for around $0.10!

Cramming 5 people in the back of a taxi. Always an adventure!
